Biography
I am interested in the process of painting and am constantly investigating and reading about the materials and craft of painting.

Alan King studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1964 to 1968.  After a career in teaching he decided to start painting full time in 1999. His love of the Italian Renaissance and Commedia dell'Arte was a continual inspiration for his paintings.

Another source of inspiration was the literature and poetry of Italy and his native Scotland, to provide visual images which he interpreted in a bold palette, showing the influence of artists such as Benozzo Gozzoli ( 1420-14 97) and Paolo Ucchello (14 35-1460), and in particular the writings of Dante (1265-1351). He was a member of the Paisley Art Institute and the Glasgow Arts Club. He said of his painting - I am interested in the process of painting and am constantly investigating and reading about the materials and craft of painting.

Alan King exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and the Glasgow Arts Club. He was included in the Albemarle Gallery's Millennium 2000 Exhibition and also exhibited in the UK at Thompson's Gallery. His first solo exhibition was at Art Exposure, Glasgow in 1997.

Alan King died in 2013.
