Biography

Cyprien Eugène Boulet was born in Paris in 1877. He studied art in Paris with Jean-Paul Laurens, Louis-Joseph-Raphaël Collin and in the Atelier Cormon under Fernand Cormon whose illustrious former students include Vincent van Gogh, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Émile Bernard.

 

In 1900 Cyprien Eugène Boulet exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and obtained a gold medal there in 1914. He subsequently became a member of the jury for the Salon des Artistes Français.

 

His particular speciality was portraiture but he also painted still life, nudes, landscapes and studies of Parisian life. He was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1926, and continued painting in France, in Argentina and the USA and Mexico. Cyprien Boulet's paintings can be found in the Musée des Augustins de ToulouseMusée des beaux-arts de Nice and at the Petit Palais à Paris and the Pinacothèque de l'État de São Paulo in  Brasil.

 

Cyprien Eugène Boulet died in 1972.
